Every May the Lions Club of Calne hold their Annual Duck Race.
3000 bath ducks race down the River Marden – each duck represents a numbered ticket – these are sold door to door in and around Calne. The first 3 ducks past the finish line win prize money.
Local Calne based companies can also purchase a commercial duck (decoy duck size) and decorate it to represent their business. With prizes for the best dressed duck and first past the finish line.
Local Schools and Children’s Groups also have their own race – letting their creativity run riot on their decoy ducks.
It is a great community event that attracts crowds of around 3000 people to the town. There are craft, food and community stalls near the finishing line at Marden House and a great day out is had by all.
All monies raised go to local good causes.
